New Work in Progress

I had an out-of-town visitor this weekend but I was able to sneak in some time to paint. Company's gone home now, but I'm trying to stay off the computer too much for what remains of the evening.

I wanted to share what I'm working on really quickly! Here's a small canvas (6in x 6in) that I started yesterday afternoon. Collaged elements from an old book about birds, and acrylic. I just need to add some more details to jazz it up a bit. What do you think?

  1. Hello,
I find it nice! Why the birds? Did u decide to add other elements or patterns in the background? (What about fading vintage wallpaper guache? - Just an idea...).

I'm Susanna, here from BYW (after I read what you say about picking the safe option for too many years).
Sincerely wish you all the best for your art!

  2. Hi Suze, thanks for stopping by & for the encouraging words! I had an old book about bird species lying around and had the urge to use the images in it. Symbolically, to me, birds signify freedom & possibility/potentiality... I'm thinking of painting some orange oval outlines in the top & right areas. Hadn't thought about fading wallpaper imagery although I can see how that would work!

  3. Hi Christy!
Thanks for the explanation and hope you will share the progress of the artwork then!
    (I've joined!)

Ciao, see you in the class ;)
